Germany registered a record 1,011 suspected gang rape perpetrators in 2024—the highest figure since national statistics began in 2010, according to newly released Bundestag data.
The data, published in response to a parliamentary question by MP Stephan Brandner (AfD), marks a sharp rise from 990 suspects in 2023 and nearly double the 537 recorded in 2013.
The report confirms a worrying long-term trend, with a steady increase in cases since 2015. According to the figures, over 51% of the suspects identified in 2024 were non-German nationals—a significant increase from 34% in 2010.
The most frequently named countries of origin remain unchanged since 2022: Germany, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Turkey.
