Germany has been gripped by yet another series of knife attacks committed by migrants.
A 35-year-old Syrian man seriously injured four men and a woman with a knife and a swordstick (a cane containing a hidden blade) in front of a bar in the western German city of Bielefeld on Sunday. One of the victims is said to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
The perpetrator, identified as Mahmoud Mhemed, started stabbing people randomly and was later knocked to the floor by other guests at the bar. He was still able to flee the scene of the crime, leaving his backpack behind. Police are still searching for him.
Mahmoud Mhemed came to Germany in 2023 and is currently living in Germany on a temporary residence permit.

A similarly horrific incident happened over the weekend in the eastern city of Halle, where a 46-year-old man from Kosovo injured three people, including an 11-year-old girl.
The man was arrested, but authorities have not yet commented on his motives.
The German election campaign earlier this year was dominated by the negative consequences of illegal migration after wave upon wave of knife attacks appeared in the headlines almost on a weekly basis.
Most of the attacks were carried out by Syrian and Afghan migrants, many of whom should have been deported long ago.
