While fuel prices in Germany break new records on a daily basis, the Berlin government continues to engage only in debates instead of providing meaningful relief.

A “flexible price cap”, the introduction of a windfall tax, and direct support for low-income households have already been discussed. Recently, a working group was formed in the Bundestag consisting of representatives from the CDU/CSU and the SPD, which is expecting concrete relief proposals from the government by Friday.
