The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intensified its efforts to take Gaza City over the weekend of September 6 to 7. Its soldiers prepared to deploy the tactic of taking out a number of high-rise buildings used as vantage points by Hamas snipers, following up with the destruction of several of the towers.

In line with its official policy, the IDF attempted to minimise civilian casualties. Gazans report receiving emergency evacuation texts to their mobile phones. The IDF also sent a warning to a local hummus shop, prior to bombing the premises.

Hamas efforts to achieve a ‘comprehensive’ ceasefire deal without returning any of the remaining Israeli hostages were rebuffed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office:

This is more spin by Hamas that has nothing new.

Over the weekend, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, described plans to recognise a Palestinian State as having “disastrous consequences.” In contrast to some of his international counterparts, it appears that Huckabee views recognition as rewarding terrorism, specifically the October 7 pogrom conducted by Hamas and its allies.
