President Donald Trump said on Wednesday, April 1st that while Iran has requested a ceasefire, the U.S. will only consider the proposal once the Strait of Hormuz is reopened to shipping.

Writing on Truth Social, Trump stated:

Iran’s president has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE! We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!

Meanwhile, President Emmanuel Macron clarified that France had not been consulted and is not participating in the war. His remarks follow Trump’s criticism of a French overflight ban on planes carrying military supplies for the conflict.
