The Israeli PM has instructed the army to carry out “forceful” strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

Israel Defense Forces actions have killed several people in southern Lebanon, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordering the military to intensify attacks on Hezbollah, testing an already fragile ceasefire.

At least six people were killed in Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese state media—while the Israeli military said it had targeted rocket launchers and Hezbollah fighters at multiple locations.

The escalation follows renewed attacks by Hezbollah, which launched rockets and drones into northern Israel in what Israeli officials described as a violation of the ceasefire. Israeli air defences intercepted some of the incoming projectiles, and no casualties were reported on the Israeli side.

Netanyahu’s office said the military had been instructed to strike Hezbollah “with force”, raising further doubts about the stability of the truce, which had only recently been extended by three weeks with U.S. mediation.

It announced it would

continue to operate decisively against threats directed at Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers, in accordance with directives from the political echelon.

Despite the ceasefire, clashes have continued in southern Lebanon, particularly along the border area, where Israeli forces say they are targeting Hezbollah positions.
