Hezbollah’s Radwan Force has suffered a significant leadership blow in a late-night raid on Beirut, even as the group continues to launch deadly drone strikes against Israeli border positions.

The fragile peace brokered by the Trump administration in April was called into question on Thursday, May 7th, as Israeli aircraft struck the heart of Beirut.

The attack targeted a high-ranking commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force in the southern suburb of Dahieh, marking the first time the capital has been hit since the April 16th ceasefire agreement.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who personally authorized the mission, declared that no terrorist is immune as the Israeli military continues to enforce what it calls a “Hezbollah-free security zone” in southern Lebanon.

Despite the formal ceasefire, the last seven days have seen some of the deadliest exchanges of the 2026 conflict, with over 120 Lebanese casualties and a growing tally of Israeli military losses, undermining U.S. diplomatic efforts and those of Lebanese president Joseph Aoun.
