Norway and Ukraine will strengthen their bilateral defense cooperation by producing Ukrainian drones in the Nordic country, the Norwegian government announced on Tuesday, April 14th.
Under the agreement, Oslo will support UAV production in Ukraine, while Kyiv will share operational data, intelligence, and technical expertise with Norway. Ukrainian drones will also be manufactured on Norwegian territory as part of the deal.
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre stated at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky:
We can learn from the experiences Ukraine is gaining in this hard-won fight against Russian aggression.
The Støre government has established a long-term funding plan for Kyiv—the Nansen Support Programme—with cross-party backing in parliament. The total aid is set to reach approximately €23.7 billion ($28 billion) between 2023 and 2030, making Norway one of Ukraine’s largest backers per capita.
