The number of Muslims in the Netherlands will grow from 1 million to a potential 4 million by 2050, according to Jan Latten, a Dutch demography expert.
If we assume that immigration continues unabated at the current rate, the Netherlands will have a population of 20 million within 25 years, and 3 to 4 million inhabitants will be Muslims, says Latten.
That would mean 20% of the country’s citizens would be Muslims, compared to the 6% today.
Latten fears that Muslim youngsters are increasingly becoming more and more radical, which is reflected in their choice of clothing, the schools they attend, the dating apps they use. There is a concern that their way of life will eventually lead to parallel societies in the Netherlands.
