Zohran Mamdani labeled Operation Epic Fury a “war of aggression.”

New York City’s socialist mayor is facing social media blowback from conservatives after his post condemning the U.S. attack on Iran.

On Saturday, February 28th as a joint strike on Iran by the U.S. and Israel was developing, Mayor Zohran Mamdani blasted the Trump administration’s decision—one that led to the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei—in a post on X:

Today’s military strikes on Iran—carried out by the United States and Israel—mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression.… They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change.

Mamdani’s sympathetic stance toward the Iranian leadership drew sharp criticism from several sources. Republican Senator Ted Cruz also posted on social media:

Comrade Mayor is rooting for the Ayatollah. They can chant together.
