Eirik Kristoffersen, Norway’s Chief of Defence, has stated that Norway cannot exclude the possibility of a future Russian attempt at territorial acquisition, because Moscow may wish to protect its nuclear assets and second-strike capability on the Kola Peninsula in the event of a conflict with NATO.
According to him, Russia does not have the same kind of conquest aims towards Norway as it does in Ukraine, but they must still prepare for the worst-case scenario. He added that current threats more closely resemble sabotage and hybrid operations.
