The EU has presented a new proposal to overhaul the Union’s migrant relocation system in order to distribute the migration burden and assist member states on the external borders.

The distribution could take three forms: accepting relocated migrants, making a financial contribution, or providing technical assistance for border protection. The plan envisages the relocation of at least 30,000 people per year and a contribution of €600 million.
