Outgoing Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán has indicated that Hungary could lift its veto on a €90 billion EU loan to Ukraine if oil deliveries through the Druzhba pipeline are restored.
In a post on X on Sunday, Orbán said Hungary had received signals via Brussels that Ukraine may resume oil transit as early as Monday. He reiterated Budapest’s position, stating: “No oil = no money,” making clear that continued energy supplies remain a condition for approving the financial package.
According to Orbán, Hungary would no longer block the loan once deliveries resume, adding that the disbursement itself would not impose a financial burden or obligation on Hungary.
