As Europe succumbs to the heat wave, rising immigrant violence and a free speech crisis, Brussels poses as the defender of ‘individual freedom.’

The European Commission’s Justice and Consumers Directorate General felt obliged to engage in progressive virtue signalling at the end of ‘Pride month.’

In a post on X, the Brussels bureaucrats reassured Europe’s citizens that the Commission’s “commitment” to LGBT ideology “continues.”

“Everybody in the EU deserves to live without hatred and violence,” the post says, including a link to the Commission’s 2026-2030 LGBT Equality Strategy, which, according to the post, works to create “a Union which is built on equality, dignity, and rights for everyone.”

It is ironic that while basic freedoms such as free speech as well as the rule of law are threatened across the European Union, and a major economic crisis looms on the horizon of the continent, unelected bureaucrats in Brussels are busy sending ideological messages, under the spell of identity politics.
