The rally came after weeks of anti-government protests.
The president stated that the movement would work to “save the country” from forces that were intent on “destroying Serbia.”
According to reports, people arrived for the rally from the entire country, as well as from Kosovo and the Republika Srpska. Republika Srpska president Milorad Dodik spoke at the rally, while Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán sent a video message assuring those gathered of his support, noting that foreign forces “should not tell Serbians how to live.”
Anti-government protesters attempted to stop buses carrying participants from reaching the rally by throwing eggs at the vehicles, so police had to intervene.
