In a horrific crime that has shocked Italy, a 32-year-old Colombian tourist was kidnapped, drugged, and subjected to repeated gang rapes over a 72-hour period in Rome.
The incident, which happened in mid-May, began when the woman was lured by a man near the Termini train station under the guise of being offered cannabis, and was subsequently abducted into a van. She was taken to an abandoned building on the city’s eastern outskirts, where five African migrants held her captive under the threat of death.
After three days of brutal, continuous assaults, the victim managed to escape during a moment of distraction. She was found semi-naked on the street by a passing driver who rushed her to a local hospital.
Following her testimony, a large-scale police raid on the building led to the arrest of the five perpetrators—two Gambians, two Nigerians, and one Malian—who now face charges of aggravated gang rape.
During the operation, police discovered 22 other illegal migrants residing in the complex, resulting in immediate deportation orders to detention centers for 11 of them.
Investigations are ongoing into the kidnappers and the building’s owners.
