The Kremlin talked up renewed trilateral peace talks on Ukraine while praising the Washington-Tehran truce as a positive step toward de-escalation.

Russia is hoping for a new round of U.S.-brokered trilateral talks to end its war in Ukraine, a process stalled recently by the Middle East conflict, the Kremlin said on Wednesday April 8th.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said:

We hope that in the foreseeable future they will have more time and more opportunities to meet in a trilateral format. We look forward to this.

Peskov also stated that Russia welcomed the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, after Tehran and Washington agreed on a two-week truce.

We, of course, welcome this news of a ceasefire and welcome the decision not to continue down the path of armed escalation, especially not to strike civilian targets, including Iranian economic facilities. We consider this very important.
