Spanish police have arrested a Moroccan immigrant, 36, for the alleged rape of a vulnerable minor back in May.
The girl, reportedly autistic, was followed into the washroom of a pizzeria/kebab restaurant in the port town of Dénia by a man who previously attempted to befriend her family and claimed to be Belgian.
In the subsequent complaint, the minor reported being sexually assaulted, including one count of anal rape, after encountering the suspect in the toilets on the premises. The attacker also recorded the assault on his mobile phone, leaving evidence that investigators later cited as part of his arrest.
The girl’s suspicious father organised for her to be examined in hospital. At the same time, the suspect himself is said to have attempted to contact the family to arrange further meetings with his alleged victim.
While the investigation remains ongoing, this grim episode will further heighten concerns about migrant crime in Europe.
