The CSU once again proposes lowering the age of criminal responsibility in Germany from 14 to 12, since according to them the number of violent crimes committed by those under 14 is alarmingly rising.
The CSU argues that children below the age of criminal responsibility are being used more and more frequently for drug trafficking, which makes the tightening of the law necessary. The proposal also calls for a tougher stance against knife attacks, date-rape drugs and group sexual assaults, even though the coalition agreement previously promised a comprehensive study into the causes of youth violence before introducing new legislation.
