Ukrainian recruitment officers fired warning shots after a crowd attempted to block the forced mobilization of a local Roma man in the Transcarpathia region. Transcarpathian journalist Vitaliy Glagola shared the video of the incident on Telegram, saying that recruitment officers responded by firing handguns and Kalashnikov assault rifles. Authorities later stated that these were warning shots intended to disperse the crowd.
The incident occurred in the Mizhhirya district when Territorial Recruitment Center (TCC) personnel attempted to detain a local. Tensions escalated quickly as approximately 30 residents gathered to protest, pelting officers with stones and other objects to prevent the man’s removal.
Ukraine faces a growing military manpower challenge, with many men of military age having fled abroad to avoid conscription.
