The United States moved closer to bombing Iran in support of Israel’s campaign to prevent the Islamic Republic from completing and launching its own nuclear weapons programme, according to reports.
Trump’s main target would likely be Fordo—a secretive uranium enrichment facility—but appears to be first giving Iran the opportunity to ditch its nuclear ambitions.
To date Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, has rejected U.S. calls for the country’s unconditional surrender, stating “The Iranian nation will not surrender.”
While Trump has claimed he will not authorise killing the Ayatollah ‘for now,’ the European Union is refusing to support regime change in Iran.
