The U.S. pledge marks an unprecedented level of military and diplomatic support for the State of Qatar, similar to NATO's Article 5.

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order giving Qatar a U.S. security guarantee. Any armed assault on Qatar will now be treated as a threat to the United States—with possible military, economic, or diplomatic repercussions for the attacker(s).

The order also sets up joint planning between U.S. and Qatari forces to respond quickly to any future threats.

The move comes after U.S. ally Israel attacked Hamas officials in Doha as part of its war of self-defense, following the Hamas-led October 7 pogrom.

Experts say the deal gives Qatar a rare strategic advantage in the region, a protection other Arab countries have not received.
