Trump plans executive order on voter ID and wants to ban mail-in voting and machines.

U.S. President Donald Trump has said he will sign an order to require voter ID aiming to ensure election security, in particular to address the issue of non-citizen voting.

“Voter I.D. Must Be Part of Every Single Vote. NO EXCEPTIONS!”, Trump said on Truth Social.

For years, Trump has supported replacing electronic voting machines with paper ballots counted by hand for greater transparency. In August, he announced plans to limit mail-in voting and machines before the 2026 elections, though the extent of his authority in this matter is unclear.

The 2026 elections will be a crucial moment for the Democrats, who are working to regain control of Congress.
