Donald Trump said he will examine the new Iranian proposal while warning that military options remain on the table.

U.S. President Trump said Saturday he would review a new peace proposal from Iran but expressed scepticism about its prospects and did not rule out future military action.

Talks between the two sides have stalled since an April 8 ceasefire, after a round of negotiations in Pakistan aimed at ending more than two months of fighting failed to produce a breakthrough. Iranian media reported that Tehran had submitted a 14-point plan, including ending hostilities across all fronts and establishing a new framework for the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

In comments posted on Truth Social and later to reporters in West Palm Beach, Trump said he would soon examine the proposal but doubted it would be acceptable, adding that Iran had “not paid a big enough price” for its actions over the last 47 years. He also declined to specify what could trigger renewed military strikes, saying only that further action remained “a possibility.”

Iranian officials warned that tensions could escalate again, with senior military figure Mohammad Jafar Asadi saying a renewed conflict with the United States was likely. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Washington must decide whether to pursue diplomacy or confrontation, adding that Tehran was prepared for both.

The uncertainty comes as the conflict continues to weigh heavily on Iran’s economy, with oil exports falling and inflation reportedly exceeding 50 percent, while global energy markets remain affected by disruptions linked to the Strait of Hormuz.
