Ongoing peace talks coincide with warnings of airstrikes and seizure of Tehran’s oil markets.

U.S. president Donald Trump threatened to hit Iran “very hard” and seize the country’s main oil hub in a Thursday, June 11th statement.

The renewed pressure aims to push Tehran into making an acceptable deal to bring the conflict between the two nations to an end. Trump took to social media, stating

The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most [of] its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT

Viewers of a subsequent Fox News interview heard there “will be more bombing tonight. It will be bigger—bigger, more powerful.”

Trump expressed a preference for seizing Iran’s oil infrastructure hub on Kharg Island over further, slow-paced talks. This was reinforced by a Truth Social post which promised

At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets.

Self-styled peace mediators Pakistan and Qatar pointed to their own role in trying to end the conflict, despite continuing flare-ups—including Secretary of War Pete Hegseth who anticipates a third night of “strong” and “clear” strikes.
