Top American officials will meet Ukrainian negotiators in the Sunshine State this weekend, as Washington steps up efforts to broker an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and  son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump Jared Kushner,  were expected to sit down with the Ukrainian delegation to discuss adjustments to a draft peace framework.

On Friday, November 28th, just before the Florida meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the resignation of his chief of staff, Andrii Yermak, who had served as the country’s lead negotiator in talks with the U.S.

Zelensky named the Ukrainian delegation as now including Andrii Hnatov, the head of Ukraine’s armed forces;  foreign minister Andrii Sybiha, and Rustem Umerov, head of the security council,  said.

Diplomats are focusing on revisions to Trump’s proposed 28-point plan developed in discussions between Washington and Moscow, which officials say remains the basis for ongoing talks.

In his nightly address on Saturday, Zelensky said the American side was “demonstrating a constructive approach.”

In the coming days it is feasible to flesh out the steps to determine how to bring the war to a dignified end.
