The Afghan man who was arrested on October 28th for a triple stabbing in west London has admitted to manslaughter.

An Afghan man who entered the UK illegally has been convicted of manslaughter. The defendant, 23-year-old Safi Dawood, fatally stabbed 49-year-old Wayne Broadhurst on October 27, 2025.

Initially, Safi was charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder after a brutal triple stabbing in west London. His plea of guilty (to the manslaughter of Broadhurst) on the grounds of diminished responsibility was accepted by the prosecution.

The defendant arrived in the UK five years ago by truck and, according to the Home Office, was granted asylum and indefinite leave to remain in 2022. Earlier, he was initially accused of murder after fatally stabbing council worker Broadhurst, and attempted murder for causing permanent injuries to 45-year-old Shahzad Farrukh, his landlord. The court heard that Farrukh suffered life-changing injuries and was expected to remain in hospital for some time. He is also charged with the attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy, who has since been discharged from hospital.

Safi will now stand trial before a jury at Southwark Crown Court on charges of attempting to murder Farrukh and the 14-year-old boy.
