Ukraine is requesting approximately €1 billion in new European support by the end of the year to keep financing American arms purchases through the PURL programme, which is funded predominantly with European money. According to the ambassador, this is vital amid intensifying Russian attacks.
The Netherlands has already pledged €250 million for air defence systems and F-16s, but many European countries are reluctant to provide further sums, especially since the leak of Donald Trump’s original peace plan, which favoured Russia.
