Anti-corruption authorities allege the Ukrainian justice minister profited from a $100 million kickback network in Ukraine’s energy sector.

Ukraine’s Justice Minister German Galushchenko and Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk have resigned amid a sweeping corruption scandal, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced on social media.

Anti-corruption prosecutors allege that Justice Minister German Galushchenko  received “personal benefits” from a $100 million kickback scheme in the energy sector, which he oversaw as minister until July 2025.

Galushchenko was suspended earlier, with Deputy Justice Minister Lyudmila Suhak temporarily taking over his duties.

Galushchenko welcomed the decision on social media, saying “suspension during the investigation is a civilised and correct scenario” and that “I will defend myself in the legal sphere and prove my position.”

Svitlana Grynchuk also stepped down following Volodymyr Zelensky’s call for her removal.

“I have submitted my resignation,” Grynchuk said in a social media post, insisting, however, that she had not violated any laws.
