According to a diplomatic cable obtained by Reuters, governments worldwide are getting pressure from Washington to boycott the upcoming United Nations conference on a potential two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians, as the Trump administration will not be attending the meeting.

The internal U.S. communication, sent on June 10, makes clear that countries attending the New York conference next week “will be viewed as acting in opposition to U.S. foreign policy interests” and could face diplomatic consequences.

The cable warns that Washington would oppose any move to unilaterally recognize a conjectural Palestinian state, in harmony with President Trump’s tough stance on Palestinian statehood.
