As Washington revises its Ukraine peace blueprint and prepares for high-stakes talks in Moscow, European officials say the next few days could prove decisive.

As American and Ukrainian negotiators wrapped up “productive but difficult” discussions in Florida on Sunday, November 30th, U.S. president Donald Trump declared

I think that there’s a good chance we can make a deal.

The talks form part of a wider diplomatic push now accelerating across Europe with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky arriving in Paris on Monday, December 1st, to secure stronger European Union backing.

Zelensky’s meeting with President Emmanuel Macron of France comes amid concerns over Washington’s initial peace proposal, criticised in Kyiv and some European capitals for mirroring key Russian territorial demands. The United States has since updated the plan after talks in Geneva, though its current terms remain undisclosed.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas warned this week could be “pivotal” for diplomacy, noting that results from the Florida talks are still unclear. Meanwhile, Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff is due in Moscow on Tuesday for follow-up discussions with Vladimir Putin.

The diplomatic offensive coincides with fresh Russian strikes on Kyiv and the aftermath of a corruption scandal that pushed Zelensky to remove his chief of staff and top negotiator. As Ukraine navigates military pressure and political turbulence, Zelensky has intensified coordination with European and NATO leaders, stressing that “much can change” in the crucial days ahead.
