Kyiv offers its drone warfare expertise to Gulf states as Iran’s regional strikes drive demand for new air-defence solutions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Jordan on Sunday as Kyiv pushes to deepen defence ties with Gulf states during a Middle East tour.

“Today in Jordan. Security is the top priority and it is important that all partners make the necessary efforts toward it. Ukraine is doing its part. Important meetings ahead,” Zelensky wrote on X.

The visit follows a series of agreements with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, as Ukraine seeks to export its battlefield experience in countering drone attacks.

Kyiv has deployed anti-drone specialists to all three countries after Iran launched drone strikes across the Gulf in response to U.S.-Israeli air attacks more than a month ago.

A Ukrainian team is also operating in Jordan, a senior official told AFP earlier this month, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Ukraine has developed a layered approach to air defence, combining low-cost interceptor drones, electronic jamming systems, and anti-aircraft guns to counter Russian aerial attacks.

Officials have proposed that Gulf states adopt similar methods, potentially replacing expensive air-defence missiles currently used to intercept Iranian drones with cheaper Ukrainian alternatives.
