New appointments include the defence minister moving to the energy portfolio.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday, January 3rd, proposed moving his current defence minister to the role of energy minister. In a post on X, Zelensky said he had suggested “Denys Shmygal’s appointment as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy,” following his plan to replace Shmygal with the minister of digital transformation.

Zelensky has been forced to replace and swap top officials in his cabinet after major corruption scandals rocked the country, with the president’s reputation suffering a serious blow.
