US president Joe Biden and French president Emmanuel Macron are to hold special talks after a French-Australian nuclear submarine deal was scrapped, EUobserver reports.

France recalled ambassadors to the US and Australia. Paris called the situation a “grave crisis” of “strategic” proportions.

Australian Defence Minister Peter Dutton said Canberra was “upfront, open and honest” with France about its concerns.
