Benjamin Netanyahu said the world needs more leaders like the Hungarian prime minister, while Javier Milei said Viktor Orbán has made Hungary a bastion of the Western world in a Europe that is being engulfed by darkness.

A large number of prominent international politicians have pledged their support for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, whose party, Fidesz, launched its campaign yesterday ahead of the April parliamentary elections.

Among those praising Orbán and Hungary’s role in the domestic and international arena were Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as several conservative and right-wing European political leaders.

In her message, Meloni referred to Viktor Orbán as her friend, with whom she does not always agree, but who is connected to her by their love for their people and the close ties between their nations, which are further united by “the three colours of our beautiful flags.”

Meloni’s political ally, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, emphasised in his message that his party, La Liga, stands fully behind Fidesz and also highlighted that Hungary has come a long way, showing that it is indeed possible to stand up to pressure from Brussels.

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš stated that Orbán is truly one of Europe’s most influential politicians, who always and in all circumstances represents the interests of Hungary and the Hungarian people. Babiš also warned that Europe’s survival is in all our common interests.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also sent a message on the occasion of the congress, calling the Hungarian prime minister an outstanding statesman and emphasising that the world needs patriotic, clear-thinking leaders with a strategic vision like Viktor Orbán.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić described the Hungarian prime minister as a courageous and honest politician. According to him, Orbán deserves respect because no one has ever been able to persuade him to act against his country’s interests. The Serbian leader also praised all the work the prime minister has done to improve Serbian-Hungarian relations.

From Argentina, President Javier Milei asked for God’s blessing on all those who fight for freedom and said Viktor Orbán has made Hungary a bastion of the Western world in a Europe that is being engulfed by darkness.

“In the Hungarian Prime Minister, Hungarians can count on an exceptionally intelligent and persistent leader,” said Marine Le Pen. The leader of the French opposition National Rally (RN) also assured the Hungarian PM of her support and wished him every success in the April elections.

Alice Weidel, co-leader of Germany’s Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), emphasised in her message that all sovereignist politicians in Europe hope for Viktor Orbán’s victory. According to the AfD’s former chancellor candidate, the European Union today treats Orbán as an enemy, and warmongering is an integral part of EU policy, as is the violation of civil liberties. Weidel also said she is ashamed of her fellow German citizens, Ursula von der Leyen and Manfred Weber.

“Under Viktor Orbán’s leadership, Hungary is an important pillar of security in these uncertain times,” said Mateusz Morawiecki, president of the European Conservatives and Reformists and former Polish prime minister. He also stated his belief that Hungarian patriots are a serious force contributing to the victory of sovereign states.

According to Herbert Kickl, chairman of Austria’s FPÖ party, Hungary, under Viktor Orbán’s leadership, is one of the strong nation states that point out misguided European decisions at every level, especially in the area of refugee policy. Orbán is the guarantee that Hungary will continue to follow the path of the strong and courageous, from which other countries can also draw courage, he said.

Santiago Abascal, leader of the Spanish Patriots and the VOX party, called Viktor Orbán a true patriot and a great friend who has “put Hungary at the centre of the world” and proven that there is an alternative to globalism and wokeism. The Spanish politician added that the upcoming election is not just about Viktor Orbán or Fidesz. The stakes of the election are Hungary’s sovereignty and the ability of the nation to defend its borders.

U.S. President Donald Trump also sent a letter, which Viktor Orbán shared on social media on Friday. In the letter, dated December 10, Trump wished his Hungarian counterpart success in the 2026 election campaign and praised his “courageous leadership,” calling it exemplary. Trump added that he plans to visit Hungary in the near future, with preparations already under way.

Speaking at the congress, Orbán said the era of sovereignty, bilateral agreements, and national strength had returned. He noted that Hungary has concluded dozens of agreements with major global powers in trade, investment, and defence, which he said would guarantee the country’s secure development in an increasingly uncertain world order. Today, Washington, Beijing, Moscow, and Istanbul are all interested in Hungary’s success,” the prime minister said
