If officials here don’t act soon, foreign criminals will have almost nowhere to go other than Europe.

Germany’s response to a mass of crime committed by Afghan migrants under Chancellor Friedrich Merz—and, indeed, the establishment figures that came before him—has been to fly in more migrants from Afghanistan.

But in the U.S., Donald Trump announced on Friday—just days after two members of the National Guard were shot in the head a few blocks away from the White House, allegedly by an Afghan asylum seeker—that the border is being widely shut down.

In a long post shared on the day after Thanksgiving, Trump said he will “permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover” and “remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our Country,” among other significant measures.

Germany’s anti-migration AfD responded that voters there want “entry bans and consistent deportations,” too. Indeed, party co-leader Alice Weidel said the day before that “the long-overdue migration turnaround must be initiated through a policy of closed borders,” adding:

That means, in plain terms, seamless border controls, unconditional rejection of all illegals, and finally rigorous deportation.

In his post, the U.S. president said:

Our Great American Citizens and Patriots … have been so nice in allowing our Country to be divided, disrupted, carved up, murdered, beaten, mugged, and laughed at, along with certain other foolish countries throughout the World, for being “Politically Correct,” and just plain STUPID, when it comes to Immigration.

Canadian gender ideology-critical activist Chris Elston—better known as ‘Billboard Chris’—described the statement as “beautiful,” stressing that “every Western nation needs to do this.”

French politician Massimo Nespolo also said that since Japan has already undertaken similar measures to those now underway in the U.S., Europe will soon be “the only target” for foreign criminals, jibing: “Bright days ahead of us!”

Also in France, right-wing media outlet Une Bonne Droite insisted America’s action proved that “all the stories about ‘remigration is impossible, it would cost too much’ are nonsense.”

And in the UK, where officials have been celebrating a drop in net migration, despite this appearing to be due to the fact working age Britons are leaving the country, broadcaster Alex Armstrong lamented: “If only we had this leadership.” Journalist Poppy Coburn added:

Immediately after an Afghan shot two National Guardsmen, the Trump administration paused all migration requests from the country. Britain has endured multiple fatal attacks since 2021, while our governments gagged the press to secretly import more into the country.

Trump has not yet specified what exactly he means by “Third World Countries.” We will be following for updates.
