Authorities in the German state of Saxony are investigating an incident on Monday, June 20th, which saw the law office of Dr. Joachim Michael Keiler, a member of parliament for the anti-globalist Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party, attacked by alleged left-wing extremists.
The attackers, whose actions are believed to have been politically motivated, smashed one of the office’s windows and released butyric acid inside of the building, resulting in several people suffering injuries and extensive property damage, the German newspaper Junge Freiheit reports.
According to Felix Menzel, the spokesman for the AfD’s parliamentary group in Saxony, the noxious fumes released by the acid are still so overpowering that staff at the law firm are unable to work from the building.
The incident marks the second time that Keiler has been attacked—and comes less than two years after he was accosted and punched by a mentally unhinged, left-wing extremist in Dresden’s Albertplatz while he had been campaigning during the run-up to Saxony’s state elections on September 1st, 2020.
Parliamentary director of the AfD parliamentary group Jan Zwerg has sharply criticized the act of aggression and called on Germany’s left-liberal coalition government to definitively condemn the attack.
“This attack, presumably carried out by left-wing extremists, represents a dangerous and unacceptable encroachment into the private sphere of our deputy,” Zwerg stated, adding that any attack on a member of parliament at their homes or places of work constitutes an attack on democracy—and should, therefore, be unequivocally condemned and staunchly combated by those who claim to defend democracy.
Despite the phenomenon being largely ignored by Germany’s mainstream, globalist-controlled press, for the past three consecutive years, members and politicians from the AfD have been victimized by politically-motivated violence more frequently than those of any other political party represented in the Bundestag, per figures from Germany’s Federal Ministry of the Interior.
Days ago, the annual part congress for the AfD in the state of Baden-Württemberg—which was set to take place early next month—had to be canceled over threats of violence from left-wing extremists, leaving many questioning the state of democracy in Germany.
