French author, polemicist, and potential presidential candidate Éric Zemmour recently weighed in on the events unfolding at the Polish-Belarusian border, applauding Poland for its strength and determination amid an onslaught of migrant attacks.
“By defending its border, Poland is giving a lesson to all of Europe,” Zemmour wrote on Twitter alongside a video clip showing Allahu Akbar-shouting migrants trying to break through Polish border defenses.
The crisis, which has been going on for months, shows no sign of letting up anytime soon. Polish security forces arrested around a hundred migrants late Wednesday night as they attempted to illegally enter the country near the village of Dubicze Cerkiewne, officials from Poland’s defense ministry said Thursday.
The ministry released video footage of Polish security forces surrounding a large group of migrants, most of whom were young men, in a wooded area around the border area.
“We have to prepare for the fact that the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border will not be resolved quickly. We have to prepare for months. I hope not for years,” Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak told Poland’s Radio Jedynka on Wednesday.
