France and UK to co-chair summit of Kyiv’s allies as US support wavers and Russian attacks intensify.

French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will co-chair a meeting of Ukraine’s allies on July 10, the Élysée Palace announced Friday. The talks, held via video link during Macron’s state visit to Britain, will include leaders such as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

The summit will focus on sustaining Ukraine’s combat capabilities and deploying a “reassurance force” after any ceasefire. Discussions will also explore ways to pressure Russia into accepting an unconditional ceasefire, which Moscow has so far refused.

Macron’s visit to the UK, from July 8 to 10, includes a royal welcome and an address to parliament. The meeting comes as US-led peace efforts have stalled and Washington has paused key weapons deliveries to Kyiv. Meanwhile, Russia has escalated missile and drone attacks amid uncertainty over continued US support.
