Crossings resume after bad weather; this year’s total reaches around 38,000.

More than 1,000 small-boat migrants have crossed the English Channel since Thursday morning, GB News reported. Over 600 arrived on Thursday, with a further 400 either reaching the UK or heading toward its waters.

They are the first crossings in two weeks, after bad weather halted people-smuggling operations. In one incident, 94 migrants were rescued when their vessel broke apart around four miles off Dunkirk; three were treated in France for hypothermia.

This year’s arrivals have now reached about 38,000, surpassing the 36,816 recorded in all of 2024.
