The rise of videos celebrating and glamourizing mental illness is one of the alarming consequences of our ‘post-truth’ culture.

The ideal of responsibility is based on the simple assumption that with maturity should come a certain readiness to accept the sufferings and burdens of life with dignity. This, if you like, is part of the backbone of Western Civilization.

The psychological games played by Ukraine’s abusive uncle are ruthless. He distorts the truth, and his lies create deep furrows. But, like all lies, they rest on shaky foundations.

It seems obvious that Russia, as it is now, cannot be an ally of the West. Perhaps in the future the Ukrainian government will be able to rebuild proper relations with Russia while protecting its boundaries. But this currently seems doubtful.
