Frank Ledwidge is a British author, academic, former criminal barrister, and former military intelligence officer who served on operations in the Balkans and Iraq. He spent a decade as a senior legal adviser with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and was part of the first UK civil-military teams deployed to Kosovo, Helmand, Libya, and Ukraine during conflict operations. He is a lecturer in strategy, air power, and law at University of Portsmouth and the Royal Air Force College. The author of several books, including Losing Small Wars, he is a frequent commentator on military affairs and the war in Ukraine. He holds a law degree from University of Oxford, a Ph.D. in war studies from King's College London, and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
