The Uwe Boll potboiler has won 94% audience approval and—despite being streamed free over the weekend—topped Amazon’s paid-for video-on-demand streaming chart.

Effectively banned in Germany, Citizen Vigilante (2026) seems to be closing in on a 95% audience score on the reputable film ratings website Rotten Tomatoes.

At the time of writing, it’s likely that many of those who contributed to the positive ranking of writer-director Uwe Boll’s portrayal of armed resistance to migrant crime and its enablers saw it on X, where it was streamed free for 24 hours from on-off trillionaire Elon Musk’s account.

By way of comparison, this means that the audience voted Boll’s film as on a par with smart horror film Obsession (94%) and not far behind Project Hail Mary (95%) and Toy Story 5 (also 95%). A key difference is these films also enjoy a more positive score from critics, which is calculated separately (here, as usual, Boll films performs incredibly badly: the director spent part of a decade as “Raging Boll,” challenging each of his detractors to a boxing match).

Despite a partly politically motivated critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes of 14%, the film also topped Amazon’s paid-for video-on-demand streaming service at number 1.
