Reports suggest that Hungary’s new prime minister is struggling to make an impact with his international speaking commitments.
Péter Magyar cancelled his highly anticipated speech at the Europa-Forum Wachau event in Austria due to mysterious “urgent commitments in Budapest,” according to an early report in the Kronen Zeitung.
Separately, Die Presse writes that Magyar’s visit to Vienna has been overshadowed by organizational confusion and a climate of mistrust among his wider team. The Austrian press describes the primary reason for the ramshackle performance as the new Hungarian government excluding Hungary’s ambassador in Vienna from the preparations.
