Reports suggest that an extremely dangerous Sudanese asylum seeker was able to slip into Northern Ireland from the EU, prompting public outrage.

New details emerged throughout Wednesday, June 10th regarding the attempted murder that has enraged the United Kingdom.

Both the suspect and his alleged victim were named, with injury details widely publicised. It has now been reported that 30-year-old Sudanese asylum seeker Hadi Alodid also threatened with death a female National Health Service employee during his temporary hospitalisation after arrest (where he refused both a lawyer and an Arabic translator).

Later in court, Alodid was charged with threatening to kill a radiographer, along with other criminal charges. He pleaded not guilty before a judge at his initial hearing, with July 8th set as the date for his next appearance in court.

The knife attack victim, named as Stephen Ogilvie, is believed to have lived in the same building as Alodid, and reportedly assisted his alleged assailant’s move into the property earlier this year.

Some public outrage stems from the wider help Alodid received when moving to the United Kingdom: he simply flew from Paris to Dublin and caught a bus to Belfast, passing through the Common Travel Area, before securing ‘leave to remain’ in Northern Ireland.
