Further details have emerged about the attacker, as British citizens demand justice—and ask serious questions about UK immigration controls.

Sudanese national Hadi Alodid has been charged with attempted murder following a violent attack in which a man lost his left eye. The widely publicised assault on the night of Monday, June 8th prompted worldwide shock and triggered disorder in Belfast and Scotland.

The knife attack’s victim has been named as Stephen Ogilvie, who also has injuries to his right eye, neck, and back. He remains in hospital. Further disorder is expected.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Alodid was accused in court on Tuesday, June 9th of threatening to kill a National Health Service radiographer and possession of a knife in a public place.
