The Ukrainian president claims Hungarian drones crossed the border. Hungary fires back: “Baseless.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed on Friday that “presumably Hungarian reconnaissance drones” had crossed into Ukrainian airspace—an allegation Hungary’s government swiftly denied, calling it baseless.

In his nightly address, Zelensky said he had ordered the military to carry out a full review and “respond appropriately” if such incidents occur again. He also accused Budapest of failing to back tougher sanctions on Russia, urging Hungary to “listen to President Trump,” whom he noted Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s government treats with the highest respect in Europe.

Hungary’s Foreign and Defence Ministries rejected the claims, pointing out that Kyiv had neither provided evidence nor informed Budapest of any airspace violation despite standard military protocols.
