A Palestinian gunman opened fire on a bus at Jerusalem’s Ramot Road junction on Monday, September 8th, targeting a busy road leading to eastern Jewish settlements. Ramot Road is the main route leading to Jewish settlements in east Jerusalem.
The terrorist was quickly neutralised by Israeli security forces. He reportedly used a homemade ‘Carlo’ submachine gun, previously linked to Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
Hamas praise the attack, claiming it was carried out by “two Palestinian militants.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security briefing after the deadly shooting.
The last major terrorist assault in Israel occurred in October 2024, when Hamas claimed responsibility for an attack in Tel Aviv.
