According to Le Figaro, the replacement of Viktor Orbán may represent a significant step forward in Ukraine’s EU accession process.

Le Figaro opines that Viktor Orbán’s defeat as Hungary’s prime minister has already marked a major step forward in Ukraine’s EU accession process by removing Hungary’s veto.

The French newspaper writes that Péter Magyar becoming prime minister is expected to accelerate Ukraine’s accession even further, especially if he can reach an agreement with President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the issue of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia. The article also highlights that although other member states—such as France and Germany—remain cautious, resistance within the bloc to Ukraine’s accession is weakening.
