A man has been jailed in London after admitting a series of antisemitic hate crimes involving repeated death threats and incidents targeting members of the Jewish community in north London.
Tavius Jean-Charles, 36, was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court after pleading guilty to seven racially aggravated public order offences and one count of racially aggravated criminal damage. He was arrested after being heard shouting “I will kill you Jews” and later threatened to blow up Jewish schools shortly after being released from custody. Between October 2025 and March 2026, he made repeated threats to six victims, with several incidents occurring near synagogues in areas with large Jewish populations.
Police said he was reported after being seen shouting death threats on March 16th and was arrested a week later. Shortly after his release, he was heard saying into his phone that it “would be good if we blew up one of their schools.” He was subsequently jailed for five years.
London authorities noted that antisemitic incidents have increased in recent months, including arson attacks and stabbings targeting members of the Jewish community. Earlier this week, a 22-year-old man was violently assaulted in Golders Green, north London, in the early hours of Monday, May 18th. The victim, an Israeli visitor who asked not to be fully identified, said he was attacked by a group of around five men while speaking Hebrew on the phone.
“They kicked me like an animal and didn’t stop,” he said, adding that his attackers repeatedly asked whether he was Jewish. He suffered injuries to his face, neck, and back and was treated in hospital before being discharged.
